ABOUT THIS STAY

My last night in Sydney,
in a suite.

This was the last hotel I stayed at in Sydney before returning to Japan. I was upgraded from my booked room to an Executive Suite, and spent time on the 14th floor overlooking Hyde Park.

I watched the sunset from the lounge and went to the restaurant the next morning. Happy with the spacious room and food, I left wanting to stay again when I returned to Sydney. The photographs and service details reflect my June 2024 stay.

Through the entrance were a double-height lobby and a large staircase. To the left was The Gallery, serving high tea. I remember enjoying a berry cake.

It was a spacious room with separate living and sleeping areas. Hyde Park and St Mary's Cathedral were outside the windows. With music on the Bose soundbar, I could unwind in the quiet room.

The black-toned bathroom had a separate bath and shower. I had mostly used showers in Sydney, so I was happy to have a bathtub. Drinks were available from nearby supermarkets and the bottle shop below the hotel too.

The club lounge looked out over Hyde Park and Sydney. Tea at sunset was particularly lovely. Outside breakfast and cocktail hours, it was quiet and relaxing. In the evening, I had sparkling wine and food.

When I returned from the lounge, red wine and welcome sweets were waiting. Touches like this make me want to stay again.

I tried breakfast in both the restaurant and lounge. The restaurant had more variety. I remember the malatang soup made with my choice of noodles and toppings, passion fruit yogurt that was not too sweet, and especially sweet melon. The lounge was less busy and seemed a good option for a peaceful breakfast.
