Three of us finished our Brisbane and Gold Coast trip at JW Marriott. The sunset from the balcony is my strongest memory.

The Gold Coast at the end of the trip.ARRIVAL
For the last stop of our Brisbane and Gold Coast trip, I chose my first JW Marriott. A resort stay began at the palm-lined entrance.
An ocean-view room for three.OCEAN VIEW ROOM
Our room had two double beds, an ocean view and a balcony. There was no upgrade or extra bed, so it felt a little tight for three. I liked the large ocean artwork at the entrance enough to want it at home. Soaking in the bath with music playing was nice, too.

After checking in around 4 p.m., I went out onto the balcony. I think it was the most beautiful sunset I saw in Australia. It made me feel that this view alone could be a reason to stay.
Cheese and beer in the room.IN-ROOM DINING
We ordered a cheese and ham platter. It cost about AUD 80 for three, and we were happy with both the quantity and quality. For beer, I bought Asahi from a bottle shop about a twenty-minute walk away.
Breakfast at Citrique.BREAKFAST
On this stay, breakfast for two was complimentary as a Platinum Elite benefit. We paid about AUD 50 extra for the third person. Alongside my usual fried eggs and sausages, the tropical drinks were good, too.
To the water, surrounded by greenery.LAGOON
I went down to the pool I had seen from the balcony. The resort scenery and sunset stayed with me. On the other hand, my honest impression at the time was that the service did not feel as special as I had expected for my first JW stay.
